September Legislative Update

Legislative Update

September is here and we are one month away from the start of legislative committee meetings.

The Special elections in Orlando are being held today for the Senate seat previously held by Senator Geraldine Thompson, may she rest in peace, and for Rep LaVon Bracy’s House seat. Rep Bracy is running for the Senate and anticipated winning the seat.

Senator Blaise Ingoglia has been appointed by the Governor to the Chief Financial Officer opening created by CFO Patronis running and winning Congressman Gaetz’s vacated seat. CFO Ingoglia has opened his campaign account and announced his intention to run for CFO.

Former House Member, Dr. Ralph Massulo, is running for the Senate seat vacated by former Senator Ingoglia  and is anticipated to win. This is a center of the state seat that includes The Villages.

Senator Jay Collins, Tampa, has been appointed the Governor to fill the vacant Lieutenant Governor position. This has created another open Senate seat in the Tampa area.

It will be busy with all these special elections.

On a substantive note, the Woman’s Breast imaging workgroup had a call with Senator Tracie Davis, Jax, her staff and Jacqueline Moody with the Senate Banking & Insurance committee to improve the Senator’s bill. Thanks to all those who participated.
